Purpose of the Training and Lifelong Learning Center

The Center for Training and Lifelong Learning (K.E.D.I.V.I.M.) of the University of Peloponnese was established with Ministerial Decision No. 228040/Z1/29-12-2017 (Government Gazette 4861) “Establishment of a Training and Lifelong Learning Center at the University of Peloponnese”. It is a unit of the University of Peloponnese that ensures coordination and interdisciplinary cooperation in developing training programs, continuing education, training, and lifelong learning.

The objectives of K.E.D.I.B.I.M. are the following:

1. Providing citizens with the opportunity for lifelong learning, returning to education, and flexible training even after entering the workplace.

2. Creating a flexible and creative learning environment for all learners.

3. Continuous and immediate response to the changes in the scientific, technological, economic, social, and cultural sectors.

4. Offering study programs with teaching outside working hours, support from information technologies for e-learning, assessment of the participants’ prior knowledge, and targeting specific professional groups.

5. Development of educational materials and programs. The Center develops educational materials used in its programs. After approval by the competent bodies, it may also provide or develop standard materials for third parties. These programs may be offered in Greek, English, or any other language deemed necessary.

6. Offering guidance and counseling services to each present or future trainee (especially those without an academic background).

7. Quality assurance in lifelong learning at three levels:
a) student satisfaction,
b) success of the learning process,
c) transfer of learning to the workplace.

8. Strengthening the relationship between research, teaching, and innovation in the context of lifelong learning: Implementation of a lifelong learning research unit.

9. Development of partnerships at local, regional, national, and international levels for the provision of attractive and modern programs through Program Agreements with Regions and Municipalities, Educational and Professional Bodies, Public Benefit Foundations, and other Public and Private Bodies. These Agreements may concern:
a) in needs assessment studies regarding training, vocational training, and adult education,
b) the implementation of educational programs,
c) the development of educational materials,
d) supporting structures and providing counseling and career guidance services,
e) family counseling,
f) intercultural education and support programs for socially vulnerable groups of the population.

10. Utilizing the opportunities offered by the development of a system for certifying qualifications for the outputs of non-formal and informal education and training.

11. Utilization of the scientific potential and infrastructure at the University of the Peloponnese in programs that are addressed to the Greek and international community and respond to the needs of citizens for training, education, and specialization.

12. Strengthen the University of the Peloponnese’s ties with the local community and ensure its ability to provide high-level education, training, and specialization.

13. Implementation of communication actions such as:
a) organization of thematic conferences,
b) interconnection with other Universities,
c) dialogue and cooperation with public, private, and social sector bodies,
d) documentation of good practices and key learning outcomes.

14. Implementation of innovative actions such as:
a) open lectures for all citizens,
b) programs and lectures for children,
c) lifelong learning programs for University staff.
